Indesit IDL700 Not emptying

❓ I have had my dishwasher for just over 2 years and have been very impressed, until yesterday when I came to empty it 2 lights (Rinse & Wash) were flashing and there was clean soapy water in the bottom of dishwasher!

I made sure the filter was clean that was ok still nothing. Rang Indesit they said try the outlet hose if not they could send engineer £89.99 inc parts. I emptied the machine by “pumping” hose up and down, switched on to rinse cycle (shortest) and it started working but when it got to end it did not empty again with the 2 flashing lights 😥 .

Rang Indesit said they would send engineer £69.99 + parts!!!!!!!! 😯 (Price of new pump £27.17, if it is the pump!)

Would I be better getting someone else or buying a new dishwasher ❗

A local engineer would certainly charge less for labour, but obviously you would have to pay for any parts required.

Most likely problem is a blockage, followed by drain pump failure. Possible problems with control circuits are expensive, but you have no way of knowing…..

There are better quality appliances out there, but to give up on yours at two years old does seem wasteful.

😀 Many thanks for your reply.

I rang a local chap he charged £15 call out, it turned out to be the pump that had broken. Total bill £58.00, still cheaper than manufacturers call out of £69.99 + parts!!

❓ Do pumps breakdown regularly? What would be a good make to go for as far as reliability for future reference?

They do if you are not careful when cleaning the fine filter or break a glass in the machine. Debris can easily block the pumps on any make. 😕

If you bought a Bosch then you would be able to access the drain pump yourself (for nothing – ziltch!), as they very thoughtfully included that access facility in their design! 🙂

I had the same problem. I removed the top, the panel beneath the door and the right-hand side panel (as seen from in front). The pump is located at the bottom and can be easily removed after undoing one screw and the waste water pipe. You get at the screw from the front. After removing the pump there are three star-headed screws which allow the pump to be removed from the motor. I had what appeared to be a clove stuck in the pump. Once cleaned out, re-greased, and reassembled the machine worked fine again. Total cost £0 🙂
