Just been doing a belt & shaft kit to this dryer.
Got to the stage where I was about to change the drum shaft over as it had worn away as usual and found the dam thing riveted on to a second plate at the back of the drum. :-0
I have drilled through the rivets and removed the plate and fixed the replacement shaft direct to the drum as the holes lined up correctly. Bit concerned if there is enough strength in the drum to carry the load but other than replace the drum I couldn’t see any other way round it. I have also put 6 short stainless steel nuts and bolts through the open holes with a drop of locktite on in case there were any sharps left behind from drilling through. Not seen this before! Is this another way of trying to put the independent engineers out of work and forcing the customer to part with more money to buy a replacement? Thanks a lot Indesit!
Ahhh ok – I had a feeling it might have been. Have I done the right thing by drilling and fitting direct to the drum then or should I keep a look out for a second hand drum?
