    https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/bkt102-compatible-tumble-dryer-drum-repair-kit
    and
    https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/c00305794-tumble-dryer-drum-repair-kit

the dearer one is a genuine manufacturers part
the other is a part made by someone else to do the same job

if it was me i would use genuine parts

first question with all hotpoint dryers is was this unit modified by hotpoint during the recall ?

Thanks Dave, I agree with you for £4 I’ll go with the genuine part, although it’s supposed to come with a 10 year parts warranty & only 4 years old, I’m going to give the manufacturer a ring Monday, but I suspect it’s parts only so will have to pay for the labour which will be more than the part. Ridiculous design, the last dryer died in exactly the same way.

you would have to pay for labour and it would be cheaper to get a local guy in

also what i asked is, was the machine modified during the recent racall, at 4 years old its ony the edge of where they pre modified them in production

Sorry Dave I missed your question, yes, they sent an Engineer out a couple of few ago not quite sure what he did other than a brace across the back of the unit, but he had it stripped down for 30-45 minutes so I presume he did extra work inside, I ws working so didn’t watch him. Alan,

that ok then because if it was not done they are now replacing the driers

Does this look repairable, or has it gone too far, no point in buying a new bearing if it’s just going to fail again.

    it will be fine.
just fit new shaft and bearing

    this is quite common

Thanks Dave, thought it would be, but nice to get the confirmation, Indesit BTW don’t think this is a design fault, and that it’s acceptable for it to fail in 4 years. Alan..

well if you consider this is the only design that has a rear bearing fail constantly including the cheaper models then its a very poor design
