    As I am now a retired ex-Hoover engineer, can anyone tell me if an intermittent squeaking noise on the above machine is likely to be the jockey/tensioning wheel, as it used to be on so many machines a few years ago?
    If so, how do you access the jockey wheel…. it looks like a longish job unless someone knows a quick tip?

    There isn’t a pulley, these are stretch belts

    It would probably needs bearings, felts etc

    rear bearing rubbed through,

    drum shaft now rubbing on metal back panel.

    take off inspection cover, loads of black carbon will be giveaway 🙂
