I have checked this dryer and changed the pully belt tensioner but the belt feels stretched and is barely turning the drum. I want to change the belt but not sure where to start. Should I take the front or back off? or is there a simple way to do this job?

I suspect you havent fitted the pulley correctlty as every one i have done has had no issues,

The pulley was broken so I replaced it with a new one. As far as I can see there is only one way I could fit it on. I am presuming that the belt had become stretched over time. (I can nearly get a finger under the belt with minimum effort). Could you advise me on how a belt replacement is done please.

Mickno need, youve not fitted the pulley right
try pulling the belt over the tensioner, where it should be , its never a belt problem

The pulley has 2 screw holes and a lug which pushes up onto the motor. These where lined up the same as the old one and there is no other possible way the pulley and bracket can be fitted. It is a fixed pulley and bracket with no spring tension as such.

If the belt is in one piece then it is fine, as you have already been told by two fully qualified experts. 😉
You have refitted the belt incorrectly. Refitting the belt is very difficult and needs a lot of force to pull it over the pulley into the correct position.
The flat, outer side of the belt should run against the pulley.

Looking from the front of the dryer the belt goes around the drum then on to the left side of the pulley then around the motor spindle. The pulley is positioned at about 11o’clock on the motor and unfortunately it was not that difficult to put it in its correct position. This is why I initially thought the belt was faulty and stretched. I have even replaced the capacitor. Is there anyway the motor could of shifted out of alignment thus reducing the tension?

Unless you released the motor mounting bolts then it won’t have moved, is the flat side or the grooved side of the belt against the plastic pulley?
Looking into the machine from the right hand side the belt should come down from the drum, around the motor drive shaft and over the top of the plastic pulley.

Cheers for your help. It was the belt route that was my problem. Runs nice now without the side panel on, squeals like hell when its on. Much appreciated people taking time out to help others.
