Indesit IS70C tumble dryer condensing in heater casung

This t/d is condensing in the heater casing, causing a puddle of water to form in the bottom of the heater casing, which then gets flicked up by the fan onto the element, causing it to trip the RCD.

I’ve cleaned everything airflow-wise, (fluff filter, condensor cartridge, front and rear fans and all ducting), so it’s getting a good flow of air through the machine and also across the cooling side of the condensor.

The scavenge pump is one with a star wheel, instead of the rubber band type, and is working fine. What little water is condensing across the condensor is getting pumped up to the water container exactly as it should be doing. The water coming from the condensor is flowing into the pump sump freely. So the water is not flowing into the heater casing from that side.

It seems like the condensor is not working very efficiently, but I’ve not got a clue as to why?!

Float microswitches are an issue on these. Maticulous cleaning of the pump chamber, pump to water container and water container back to pump are vital. I believe your problem is in this area TBH. 😉

That’s the area I was suspecting at first, but it all seems to be operating as required in that area. As I say, what little water is condensing in the condensor is getting moved efficiently up to the collector tank.
Further scrupulous cleaning of that area will follow, however, to see if it makes any difference.

Float m/sw is working OK, but the float’s not getting high enough to activate it in any case.

open the door push a small screwdriver into the microswitch then put your hand towards the drum holes at the back you should get a good flow of hot air if not remove the condenser if the flow of air gets a lot better check for blockage between filter and condenser if no blockage change condenser even if it looks ok
