ParticipantHi,
I have an Indesit ISL 70C dryer.
No heat is the main issue. As soon as I start, it runs for 1-2 minutes and beeps with flashing lights but continue to run.
These lights are flashing..
Timer light (Green)
Alarm light (Green)
Water Empty (Red)
And the Power on Light. After reading the forum topics,I decided to change the Thermostats and replaced both the thermostats.
In fact it had two of them. One was black and other one was white. I received two black ones( from the dealer) with a white dot on one. I have replaced the white one with the one with the white dot and the other black with the other black one.
Since I have not noted down the wiring before disconnecting I am not sure I connected correctly.
There are two Orange wires and two brown wires. I connected the orange wires to one thermostat( with white dot) and the brown wires to the other one. Is it correct? Can anybody help on this.
But the dryer is having same problem. Flashing lights and no heat.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Thomas Joy

They are not both thermostats, one is a stat, the other is an NTC.
You make no mention, of actually testing the stat and the ntc before you replaced them, you have got completely wrong parts and with only four wires didn’t even make a note of them. :rolls:
The thermostat/ntc set up has been changed several times on these machines, the cycling stat has been removed, then later on refitted again. The only way we can tell which type you have is with the full model/serial number and commercial code.
You have replaced the white (ELTH) ntc which is an electronic temperature sensing device with a simple, one shot safety thermostat. It also looks as though you have managed to wire them incorrectly as well. :eeek:

Thank you very much for the reply.
I have tested the so called Thermostats.
The black one was showing Continuity and the White one was open. When I told the dealer the model number, They gave me two of those as I mentioned in previous post.
What do you suggest now?
How can I test the White one (ELTH)? Will it show Continuity if it is working?
Where can I find the serial number and the exact model number?
Please help.

You will not get continuity through the ntc ( the white one) with a simple multimeter continuity test, you have to test for resistance which will vary with temperature.
Your fault code does suggest a faulty ntc although it could be a poor connection between the ntc and the control pcb, it could even be the pcb itself at fault.
There are two types of ntc used the white one is made by ELTH, the black one is a TOD. They are not interchangeable.
The serial number etc should be on a sticker inside the door or on the back of the machine. The kit with the white (ELTH) ntc included is part number C00208298, it will include two stats plus the ntc. If your original set up only has one stat plus ntc above the dryer then you only need to use the white spot stat and the all white ntc, the orange wires go on the white spot, one shot safety stat.
The kit you need is HERE

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
I kept the white one, NTC, and replaced the Black one with white spot.
It is working now and it is heating up. Will it work if it is wrongly wired?
My worry is .. will it cut off after the temperature reaches the set level?
Please advice..
Thank you very much for the help.

It will not work if it is wrongly wired, the NTC is the electronic temperature sensor so must be wired correctly to the brown or black wires, the white spot MUST have the orange wires on it.

Its worth mentioning that one of the main reasons the stats fail is down to lack of cleaning of the large condensor, its a stupid design and very difficult to clean but it should be done quite often, a pressure washer or outside hosepipe is the best option.
You should also avoid stopping the machine mid cycle to check on the clothes, this is another common cause of stat failure.

Hi,
Sorry to trouble you..
Today I turned it ON and worked for some time and it stopped. Tried to restart, it just beeps only. No Blinking lights..
The Dryer Door was wet ( very humid inside also. Heater was on.. means it was on for some time and stopped).Any idea?
Please post your reply.Regards,

Not possible from this distance to guess what may be wrong, damage done to PCB by incorrect wiring of stats, motor faulty etc, it might be time to send for the cavalry. 😉
