For some reason my dryer smells of burning and when you try to turn it on it sounds like water is swilling around. The drum will not turn, the fluff filter is clean and the water container empty…

sounds like the capacitor has failed

the noise you can hear is the pump running
    is there a slight hum?

There is a slight hum. Is it an expensive fault and will it be cheaper to buy a new one?

    nah its just the capacitor

if you take the right hand side panle ( looking from the front) its right next to the motor

part around £9 from online shop

I will take a look. Will I be able to see if that is the problem just by looking at it?

Very unlikely, it is possible to test with a meggar but TBH its cheap enough to take a punt on anyway.

Would need serial number to identify correct part as both 7uf & 8uf capacitors have been used on these machines.

I have looked for a Indesit ISL70C Capacitor on here and can’t find one. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

I have tried to turn it on this morning and it does nothing. All the lights come on, but no noise today….

Thinking that I might just give it up as a bad jump and buy another….

Have you identified wether or not it is a 7uf or an 8uf capacitor yet. It will have this printed on the side.

    Jim.
