ParticipantThe circuit that my washing machine is on was tripped by something, on restoring power the door was locked, and even after removal of power this lock remained.
I have replaced the door lock, and the problem of the door not release when powered down has been solved, however when powered on there is a short delay (~2sec) then the door lock is applied.
None of the wash, rinse, spin or drain cycles will start.
There are no fault lights, the only lights that are lit after power on are the start light and (after the short delay) the door lock light.
I have removed all the waste pipes, from the drum, through the pump out to externally and cleaned them. I have also removed the water level sensor and pipes to this and cleaned out the pipes. I have also removed and cleaned the water inlet and detergent drawer along with the short rubber hose from the drawer to the drum. No blockages remain.
I have also removed and checked the fascia PCB, but not the main control PCB.
Could someone suggest what may be wrong, and how to determine that this is the actual fault?
Thank you in advance.

I would be checking the motor brushes first of all and examining the commutator for signs of arcing.

Last night I turned on the machine and left it, after some time all the function lights started flashing, but the cycle/delay timer light all stayed off. There was also an associated whirring noise but no motion and no water.
I was hoping to get a fault indication…

Hi, Ok just to confirm the door will actually lock? If so is the door light still flashing? Will it try to put any water into the washer?
Regards

Have you checked the motor brushes as suggested?
Sadly the electronics in Indesit appliances are some of the least reliable on the market. After elimination of component and wiring faults by visual examination and then testing them electrically with suitable test equipment you are then left with all to common pcb failures. 😥

door lock now working, no flashing light, it merely locks after power on and will not unlock unless the power is removed.
no water is being added to the drum, although the water inlet is tested on power on and some water is added to the system, so the inlet valves appear to be working correctly.
There is no visible damage to any components, although I have not performed an electrical test on them yet.
