hi guys im trying to swap the old type square BITRON interlock for the new type BITRON and the pitiful indesit photocopy instructions is trying to confuse engineers by rabbiting on about reversing the plug and it might be ok if it fits snug?
basically the machine is dead with the old type lock and now with the new type lock with the plug fitted the only way round it will go positivly now works but after few secs all lights flashing? have i fitted it incorrectly? i would have presumed by it now locking ok and working id fitted it correctly? or poss exisiting fault on the machine linked to old lock?

i always look to see if the lock terminals are numbered normally 3, 4, 5 to make sure the plugs on right i should only go in one way, if the old lock was burnt out it may have damaged the pcb.

it is possible to force the plug in the wrong way round with very little effort and if you are fitting the later white interlock in place of the red one then the plug should be reversed, sometimes you can squeeze it in, sometimes you have to snip off a lug.
Fitting the plug the wrong way round can damage the pcb. 🙁

cheers guys the numbers dont match anyway as they are completly different only rhe number 3 is on both locks i think and cant be put in the same position iv swapped many many plugs before but this is different… it plugs in reversed no problem at all without any resistance… pitty the old lock couldetn be bought as it would solve the puzzle as i agree the old lock may have damaged the pcb and shorted…

maybe to put the record straight can their be an instance where the plug will fit the new lock snug perfectly but be incorrect? i did try it the opposite way round to check and it had no chance of fitting into place only goes one way? im guessing it must be correctly fitted as its only L N common L output and im sure it would blow the pcb if incorrect? ha ha time for bed me thinks…
