    Hi

I have an Indesit IWD7145, that’s suffering from a loud clicking from the bottom of the machine when spinning.

I’ve found it’s actually the body/frame (underside of machine where the shock absorbers fix to) that’s cracked. When I press the metal around where the shock bolt fastens, I can make the clicking.

I’m handy, but not handy enough to be able to weld some new metal on the area. The metal looks fairly thin so I guess it’s a design feature for it to fail eventually.

    Has anyone encountered this before?

the replacement kit has bigger mounts to try and improve it

this is a common problem. customers demand cheaper machine and this is the result

    Hi

So I went with the replacement kit I found locally for £20.

I couldn’t work out how to mount the new mounts (under or inside the frame) but eventually worked it out.

The machine now sounds a few years younger.

I owe you a beer. Cheers

A reason for the cracked chassis is that the suspension legs are not rubber mounted under the threads but the real reason is the mild steel is not thick enough, especially for models above 5kg load capacity, and is also brittle. The same situation used to occur with Hotpoint 95 series washing machines ( mid 1990s ) and those were rubber mounted, so I can only pin it down to the quality of `da metal`.
