Indesit IWDC6143 lights flashing

I’ve got a problem with my Indesit IWDC6143 washer-dryer.

When turned on at the mains there are no lights or sign of life for 5 minutes (almost exactly) and then all five lights along the top (EcoTime / 1400-600 / Intensive wash / Delay timer / StartPause) all flash rapidly, and two lights in the vertical line (spin/drain and drying) come on and stay on at the side. See picture below – the top five are flashing, the two at the side just on constantly.

I’ve tried cleaning out the pump – nothing I can see causing a blockage. I’ve tried checking error codes online, but I don’t understand them as they mostly say 4 lights will flash, when there are 5, or, on the Indesit site (https://www.indesitservice.co.uk/washing-machine-repair/error-codes) ‘No errors found for this combination’.

The only thing I can do is turn it off and on at the wall again, at which point the same thing happens.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Hoping to avoid needing a new machine, as the timing isn’t great, to say the least…

this is fault 12

communication error between the 2 circuit boards

there is a cable that runs between the 2 boards. Find it and remove and replace the cable 2 or 3 times. if its a bad connecion it will cure it.
if it fails then check this cable for damage

if both no then one or both of the boards may be faulty

I have unplugged and taken the back off the machine, but I’m not someone with any electrical experience at all. I can’t even see two circuit boards – do you think finding the wire between the boards something that I can realistically do? I’ve tried looking for online tutorials but every machine looks different…

OK, I think I have understood that it is the connection to the upper control board behind the controls – about to check that now.

I couldn’t manage to remove the cable from the upper control panel, but I’ve wiggled it around. No damage I could see. Still no change, unfortunately.

I don’t understand how to access the cable on the lower control panel, so had to leave that one.

In the current times when no one will be coming out to repair washing machines we’ve concluded it may be time for a new machine. Thanks for your help.

to get at the bottom board you can tilt the machine back against the wall at 45 degrees. since you can see the cable at the top you know what to look for so waggle any cable that looks about right

if that fails you may get someone out as we are still calling on cookers and washers but buying a new one gives you a guarantee
