ParticipantI have an Indesit IWDE12 washer dryer that has recently started playing up. It washes ok but when you select a drying programme it starts of ok but after a while it stops completely. The clothes inside are hot and wet and when i have run it with the lid off the heating element casing gets hot and the fan is spinning ok. When it stops 4 of the lights accross the top line flash. these are lights 1,2,4 (flash at same speed) and the doorlock light flashes twice as fast. I have removed the pump, pipe between the drum and pump and the waste pipe and made sure they are all clear. I understand the flashing lights are a fault code but can’t find anything relating to this on this model.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are certain that the fan is running then it suggests the NTC ( temp sensor) is faulty. Its the small device with the two very thin wires going into it. Often the wires break inside the insulation so unplug the machine and give them a gentle tug first.

Thanks iadom
I checked the connections on the temp sensor. there was no obvious loose connection or broken wire. I removed the wires from the block connector(1 by 1) and refitted them to ensure a good connection. I then put the dryer on to see if it made any difference but alas it ran ok for about 15 minutes then stopped again(with all the same lights flashing). Could this mean that the temp sensor itself has a fault and is it something i could test with a multimeter.
Thanks again

The resistance of the dryer NTC should be around 26kΩ at 20°C.
It could also be due to poor contacts at the main PCB end, they are very flimsy. 😥
Give the small connectors a good squeeze with your fingers.

blocked fluff filter causes this fault.

Hi there
I have checked the connections at the main board and they seem ok. I have watched the machine go through the drying cycle until it goes wrong and everything seems to work fine until about a minute before it stops the fan stops spinning. could this be causing the machine to overheat and cut out?Bobhope
is the fluff filter you’re referring to the filter in front of the pump at the bottom right corner of the machine because i can’t find anything else on the machine that even remotely looks like any sort of filter.thanks all

The fans on these can come adrift and foul on the housing or get clogged with fluff, particularly the earlier plastic fan.
I would have added fan failure to my first post for this fault code but you did say it was working. 😉
The filter Bob refers to is in the back of the dryer chamber housing. It usually has a small hose attached to it.
Its common practice amongst Indesit engineers to remove the filter or at least the mesh part completely.

😀 😀 😀 THANKS EVERYONE 😀 😀 😀
Last night i removed the fan/heating element housing to get to the fluff filter, removed the filter housing and found the mesh completely bock with solidified fluff. I have removed the mesh and cleared out all the crap from inside the filter housing. I seperated the fan heating element housing to check the fan and found it all ok(removed all the crap from the metal fins while i was in there). Refitted everything and tested the machine.
I am extremely happy to report that the dryer is now working perfectly. Thanks again to everyone who replied to my original question. you have allowed me to repair the machine without the fear of being ripped off by rogue machine engineers.
