ParticipantHi guys..
I’ve had this Indesit Moon washing machine for 3 or 4 years now and, remarkably, it hasn’t missed a beat until now.
Basically, what’s happening is, when I close the door and select the programme you can hear the door lock click (door locks ok) but the red ‘door locked’ light does not come on. The button for the chosen programme illuminates as normal but nothing else happens thereafter. I can turn it off and on as normal using the on/off button. All seems ok except that the wash won’t start.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
P.S. It’s a SIXL 145 S.

Motor brushes worn out maybe?

Thanks Martin. Would the ‘door locked’ light not still come on, do you think? Apart from that and the fact the machine won’t start, nothing else seems out of place – no error code lights, etc.
The last thing I washed was a duvet and I seem to remember having to press the button a few times to get it to start up. Then the wife thought the full cycle didn’t complete, although there wasn’t any water inside the machine and the duvet was damp and obviously had a bit of a wash.
Might this also suggest the brushes were playing up….they managed to start the wash but gave up the ghost part way through?

Add in the the possibility the door interlock may be fault if you like. Checking them both out your next move. 😀

Hi Martin
Just reporting back with an update – it was indeed the brushes. I only had to look at them to know they needed changing anyway, but the machine is working fine now after fitting a new set. It’s the first time I’ve done this job on a washing machine, so it’s another thing learnt. Pretty simple job all the same. Thanks for your help!

Haha.. well and truly! 😀
We can get some clothes washed. They soon pile up with three young kids in the house.
Thanks again!
