ParticipantHi
I’ve got an issue with my Indesit oven (indesit fm20kc ix gb) overheating. I thought it was a thermostat issue so I replaced it but the problem is still occurring. I’ve noticed that the light next to the temperature knob stays on even when it’s set to zero. At one point I banged the oven door (percussive maintenance!) and it started behaving normally i.e. the light would go on while it was heating up and go off when it reach the temperature. The thermostat was also tested with a multimeter outside the oven an appeared to be working normally.
What we have noticed is that the temperature knob and light seems to function normally and reliably when using the grill but not the oven. I’ve been thinking it might be something to do with the selector gubbins but I don’t know how much that will cost, how easy it is or if it will actually resolve the issue.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Robert

Whether changing the selector switch will help with my overheating problem. Do you think it’s worth a try or is there something else worth trying first?

From the information you gave I too suspect the selector switch hence why I pointed it out as requested.

Ok so replacing the selector seems to have helped and I’m not currently seeing the issue any more. I’ll keep an eye on it and post back if there are any other issues. Thanks for your help.
