    Hi All,
Just replaced the leaking drain pump in my IDL40 dishwasher, while checking everything else out I tested the overflow float switch, and found that it is normally open, making when the float rises due to flooding. This is the opposite to what I’ve always believed, ie normally made unless the float rises and the switch cuts off the power to the machine. I can’t find a wiring diagram anywhere so I’ve no way of checking it out, can anyone explain how this circut works?? Confused.com

It’s a normally open micro switch , float rises, switch makes a circuit that switches on the drain pump, cuts off the main motor and triggers an error code. If you look very closely at the side of most micro switches you will a small diagram indicating which contacts are made when no pressure is applied to the pip.
