ParticipantMorning all. I have an Indesit BAN134 fridge-freezer. The first one they delivered 5 months ago didn’t work at all, now I’m on my second. The engineer had to call a couple of months ago because the fridge and freezer were gradually warming up, whilst the compressor was constantly working and getting hotter and hotter. I wasn’t here when the engineer called, but my wife said he cleared some ‘icing-up’ and it seemed fixed. Looks to me like the same thing is happening again. If the engineer confirms this today I am tempted to refuse a repair and try to get my money back as it seems to me like this model probably has a design fault. A quick look around the internet revealed a few other customers who feel the same.
It will no doubt be quite difficult to make this claim stick, but I am quite happy to put this heap of rubbish in my garden, buy a decent fridge-freezer and then make it my hobby for the next few months to resolve this – I don’t like poor design, there’s no excuse for it, and we don’t have to put up with it! Any similar experiences out there folks? No doubt the guys on the trade forums have the fuller picture her, but I realise they probably can’t reveal all. I know Indesit is a pretty cheap brand and you can’t expect them to last 20 years, but surely reliable operation throughout the warranty period and a bit beyond is not asking too much?
Incidentally, I only got the BAN134 because my C239 broke down after 3-4 years which I thought that was a bit poor. That was about 6 months ago, and I posted about it on here. At the time there didn’t seem to be many other people reporting C239 problems, but now I see there’s a glut of them. It would appear that the average life of a C239 is in the 2-4 year range.
I would have avoided Indesit but they gave me a discount on the BAN134. Big mistake on my part. Avoid this brand like the plague I suggest. Like I say, I’m going to pursue this doggedly – any suppoorting experiences welcome, cheers
