Cod. 03289140000I have had this oven for the past 4yrs and has worked fine, lately it has been tripping the main electric mcb in consumer unit when i switch the oven on. This is an intermittent fault, doesn’t always happen. Any ideas on remedies or fault finding appreciated

Sorry forgot to add that it is on 13a ring main and has been since being installed 4yrs ago. The this ring main is dedicated to the Kitchen only and only has the oven, built-in fridge and freezer on the same ring. thank you in advance for your help.

When you say the “main MCB” what exactly goes off?

If the RCD is tripping then there is an earth fault in the oven. 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time this is caused by the element but without putting an insulation tester on the appliance you could not be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure.

Ok thanks for you help bazza500. Will try and get someone to test that for me. Any advice or pitfalls i should watch out for during changing the element, is it a straight forward installation?

Fairly simple task, just remember power off first.

does it work ok on grill ?
only reason i ask is these are fan assisted – not a true fan oven, so it doesnt have a fan oven element, just a dual grill/oven top element. and cos the grill simultaneously uses both circuits on the top element, if it grills ok, then the base element has gone. hence the “intermittance”
