Success, was only getting 1.2 volts across the coil, turns out the zener diode (DZ02) had failed replaced that , also and probebly my fault the transistor on the back of the board that controls the relay then failed so replaced that with a BC547 (but any NPN transistor will do) soldered onto the back of the board.
Maplin Part no.s
QF55K – 12volt zener diode
QQ14Q- NPN transistorA few pence certainly beats £30+ for a new PCB

I’ve just replaced the heater relay with the maplins JM67X relay too and worked straight away after that…thanks for the tip seahornet!

Hi people, same machine (IDL40) same problem, runs through cycle ok, but not heating. heater checks ok and relay is ok. have just tested the thermistor and I’m getting 60Kohm cold and drops to 10Kohm hot. anyone know if this is acceptable for this component. Right, I’m grabbing my trusty AVO8 and going in deeper, any info appreciated.

Hi,
mine was slightly different as the temp sensor read completely open. got a new PCB for about 24 quid and all is good. Until something else gives in… also, try sticking a bit of heat sink compound on th esensoir, mine came off a couple of times and trhat could be giving a duff reading.
Matt ‘ i won’t buy indesit again when i can afford it’ B

thanks Matt, you need to test the thermistor on a 10k scale really, I am using an old AVO 8 analogue meter. On most multimeters with only one resistance scale they will show as open circuit. I am old school with test equipment I’m afraid, I have thrown far to many very expensive digital jobs in the bin to get caught again. I looked on maplins to get some idea of thermistor average resistance, and it does look to be in the right ballpark. I will let you know if I make any breakthroughs.

if you can read about 30 ohms from the modual using the two cables bottom l/hand corner you need a modual 🙂

no, that tests out fine, I am looking at one of the tiny transistors on the underside of the board which appears to be duff, can anyone tell me what the two white wires connected to the jumper plug on J006 are, as this inhibits the relay, I presume they are from the water level switch, which appears to work as the machine fills correctly, anyone out there got a circuit diagram, either for the machine or the module, (or both:-))

If it’s any help, I’ve traced similar symtoms on my Indesit D41 to the 12v 10a relay on the board. Maplins do two similar relays with the same footprint (JM67X and YX97F), at about £2. I’ll get one tonight, to try – I’ll let you know if it works!Replaced the heater relay with Maplins JM67X. Five minutes with asoldering iron, perfect fit physically, and the dishwasher works like new. Cost £1.31, compared to £50 for the board. I’m happy!
After testing the element and theromstat and securing the NTC to the door firmly I figured the problem was down to the board. After following seahornet’s tip above I solved the problem by replacing the heater relay. Works like a charm! Thank you seahornet!! 😀

Same for me.
Error code light 5 flashing and the element fail to heat in the Indesit DI450 dishwasher, just changed the relay by the JM67X £1.79 and it is working again.
This forum rocks!!!
Many thanks everybody, specially Seahornet.
Very happy. 😀October 17, 2012 at 10:17 pm #274556SPBAIN

i replaced the relay and now my heater works and no error code on the led panel but the dispenser solonoid keeps on clicking for 2 minutes.

Same happens to me SPBAIN. After changed the relay, my dishwasher worked like a charm for 3 months.
Two weeks ago it starts clicking the solenoid for about 2 minutes until the relay melted again.
Now I am at the starting point again and have no clue why the relay is getting hot and melting.
Please guys any suggestion?November 6, 2012 at 2:22 am #274558krt
ParticipantRe: indesit slimline dishwasher
Could it happens because the element is dirt or defective pulling more power/time running to make the water reach the right temperature consequently forcing the relay and melting it?

Could be the PCb is supplying more than the 12 volts required to operate the relay. Or these relays aren’t man enough for the job they do…..

Purchased a second hand Indesit slimline IDS105, to find it would only complete the first wash cycle, at the end of this cycle the LED Would just flash, with the waste pump coming on every 2 mins to empty it. Even after 4 hours it still didn’t complete a full cycle.
?
?I looked through the manual only to find that the error code was not explained. I phoned Indesit, after talking to 12 different people, the only thing the useless company wanted to know was whether i had warranty or whether i wanted extended warranty, then after establishing i didn’t, they just biffed me on to the next, when i actually got through to a loosely knowledgable person they said they would send out an engineer for you as we are not allowed to tell you what the error code means, I just put the phone down.
?
?So… to the solution, after dismantling the dishwasher i tested every single component, with a multimeter. Through elimination and research i had a hunch it maybe to do with the heating element or NTC Temp sensor. Tested the NTC, perfect. Tested the resistance of the heater this read 0.34? near enough should be around 0.29. So i took the mainboard out and tested the relay and this is where my trouble and solution arose. To test the relay i got a 12v battery and the datasheet for the relay, tested the contacts, to here a nice click….Then pop!!! NOOOO i blew the IC that controlled the Relay (ULN2003A Darlington transistor array). I ordered one of ebay (but RS,Farnell sell them for a cheaper price) Unsoldered the blown IC, soldered the new one on.
?
?Put the Dishwasher back together, crossed my fingers, turned it on, and selected programme 2 (Normal wash) and pressed start. 1 hour and 50mins of intense tension later it had completed the whole cycle!!!!!!!! Ive never been so happy!!!
?
?Cheers
?Up yours Indesit!
