Hi just a question do Hotpoint engineers have a separate software card for every module board they program . Or do they have bundled software on a laptop which somehow connects to the smartcard reader , and if yes is it available to the independent engineer .

Hotpoint engineers use a different system, which I believe comprises a hardware key connected to a laptop preloaded with all the software files required.

The smart card system was introduced specifically for independent engineers, who don’t have access to the corporate system. Prior to smart cards, Indesit issued plug-in EEPROM chips individually programmed for each model (the system still in use for machines with the first generation EVO I software).

Thanks for that , had to do a few board swaps recently ,bought reconditioned ones with software pre installed for that model , both worked great . But one customer wanted it fixed that day the cost was not an issue to him . had to inform him it was not possible and had to wait for reconditioned board to arrive. Even if I bought a smart card reader and carried a few module boards I would still have to order and wait on delivery of the software card for that specific model . It would not speed up the repair any . Just not worth the hassle unless you have access to the same software as a hotpoint Engineer
