ParticipantHi we have a tall freezer the top keeps freezing up the rest is fine I have check door seal and all is ok. It has never worked well from new but I though it was because it was in a garage.
Now inside still does it. fully defrosted and dried the top box starts to over freeze within 24hrs.
There is a pipe which runs across diagonal. This appears to freeze and build up ice excessively and I have noticed from the joint more could something ie gas be leaking out I was going to try plumbing tape to test can anyone else suggested some other tape to try and if not any other suggestions.
many thanksSeptember 12, 2014 at 11:53 pm #419109gandh1

6ft tall refrigeration does tend to suffer from carcass flex/warping, particularly hotpoint/indesit larders as they just werent rigid enough, are you sure the seal is perfect all the way around? are the other basics like the freezer being level on all 3 planes? Its no good adjusting just the front feet if its listing sideways slightly as that will not help things.
you say its not been satisfactory from the start, what did indesit say about it whilst it was under guarantee? also are you running it at the maximum setting to negate the unsatisfactoryness ?

Thank you for your response, I will get some spirt levels and check more thoroughly. I never claimed on the warranty as the freezer was always in garage on rough floor so thought it would improve when in side.
seals fine I have done the paper and light test.
It is interesting what you say about setting as it over freezes I always have it low? I am gradually turning it up each couple of days then defrosting to see what happens to the frosts location and build up (although the freezer does not have anything in it at the moment so I can defrost easy. Perhaps I should have started on the max not min setting?
Also the build up since I wrapped tape around the join in the middle pipe in the top seems to have slowed abit but not sure if that is due to the freezer being turned up?
would be interested in your thoughts and thank you for your time
