ParticipantHi
I have the above freezer and it’s now about 18 months old. It worked perfectly until about 3 months ago when it started alarming.
It’s located in my spare room and is next to a radiator which is turned off and the ambient temperature in the room is 18 c during winter. There is the recommended space around the freezer.
Initially I had just placed a large amount of fresh meat in the freezer and turned on the super freeze button. About 3 days later the alarm started. We went to check it and nine of the new food had rose and quite a lot of food had defrosted.
Since then, it alarms on a daily basis and if I put in fresh food it doesn’t freeze it. Food that is already frozen seems to stay frozen but I now have to check everything when I defrost it. (Fortunately hubby has a great nose.)
Even if I put ice cream in it doesn’t freeze it and it will stay incredibly soft. Can anyone advise please as I have list quite a lot of food already and I can’t risk trying to freeze anything.

This freezer is not a self defrost freezer.
Have you defrosted it since you have had it.
If not it just might need a defrost,
If it has been defrosted and is not freezing correctly it will be a refrigeration fault.
System blocked / low on refrigerant / or compressor fault.
All are not DIY jobs to repair.

Many thanks, I’ve probably given the wrong number as the model is definitly a frost free one. Unfortunately I’m disabled so can’t really get to the number. It certainly looks identicalbto that one

If it is a frost free model then it may not have fully defrosted itself.
Get someone to look after your food and turn it off for 48 hours with the door open to fully defrost it.
Once it has defrosted then turn it back on and see if this cures the problem.

First thing once it has entered an alarm condition(flashing lights) it will not reset it’s self it will enter a maintaining mode and not fully refreeze. It will keep existing stuff just frozen but not cold enough to freeze fresh stuff. This is to prevent everything thawing if you were away. You need to reset the alarm by turning all controls knobs to fully off for over 10 seconds then back on and it should return to normal operation. If it then alarms again from there you will have a problem,
Is the fan running ? If the fan is frozen it will alarm every few days as its unable to circulate the cold air around the cabinet.
If it’s the type with the evaporator at the top of the freezer with a grill rite below the controles then I’ll bet it’s iced up. Seen loads of them doing it for no real apparent reason. The early ones the defrost heater was not reaching the drain hole but the later ones that’s been resolved. I’d do a full defrost first and go from there. Note it could take a few days for all the ice to melt in the back end if your not stripping It down
