I have a w/m Indesit IWD5123 that wont go into draining mode of the cycle.

I have unplugged it, left it overnight and plugged it back in but didnt clear the fault. I then removed the filter and cleaned it, removed the pump and checked there is nothing caught in it, checked the drain pipe and made sure it wasn’t blocked and also checked the waste pipe isn’t blocked with anything.

Any ideas? It still runs a full programme, still spins but as soon as it gets to the end when it should go into drain – nothing happens, it gets to the end and flashes either F05 or F01 error code.

Is it worth getting a new filter pump online and trying that? Or should I bite the bullet and call out an engineer?

The machine is about 5 years old so don’t want to spend a fortune on it but everything else seems to be working except for the draining part so seems a shame to dump it and buy a new one when I am counting every penny!

F01 error is not good, that is a motor/pcb problem, nothing to do with the drain cycle.
If you have the correct electrical test equipment you can check the drain pump for continuity/resistance. Do the copper windings of the pump appear burnt or charred in any way?

If it is not the pump that is at fault and there is no blockage of any kind then the main pcb is the likely culprit, very expensive and needs programming. 🙁

Many thanks Iadom for your response – that is a shame it sounds expensive! The rest of the machine is working fine, it spins, moves through all the programmes it just doesnt drain…..

Oh well it looks like an engineer visit is required or maybe a new machine as it is over 5 years old! 🙁

before booking an engineer or buying a new machine it is also worth checking the sump hose which is located at the bottom of the machine and connects to the pump maybe a blockage there

The OP has said the pump is not running and if the sump hose was blocked it wouldn’t have drained from the filter. 😉
