the dial on my indesit started clicking round, and i read your post saying to look up the fault, which i did. i then tried doing the reset – ie hold the button for 3 and reset it. this works for a bit and the drum starts moving it even filled up with water for a conditioner rinse but then stopped altogether with water in it. when i turn it to a spin cycle to get it to drain it makes a rumbling noise instead of draining and eventually starts clicking round again…

it is 5 years old is it a save or bin job?? 😕

You said you looked up the fault, can you tell us what it shows ? from what you say about the rumbling sound when you put it to empty you may have a faulty or blocked pump, pumps are not that expensive but you have to consider whether you feel confident enough to check / replace the pump yourself or will you need an Engineer ?

i looked up the fault of the clicking round dial on this website as it seems to be a common fault but no on else had posted the exact circumstances with the noise on trying to empty the drum accompanying it.

O.K was the drum actually turning or was it just pumping out ?
You may just have a Blocked or Damaged pump, did it actually empty the
drum ?

on the rinse part of the cycle the drum was turning fine. no the machine is sat there full of water now and wont drain it just makes the noise.

my question is whether it is worth me calling out someone to repair it if they will only tell me that it costs too much to bother to repair it and i still have to pay £50 call out for them to do nothing. it cost less than £200

your pumps blocked
the filter is under the kick strip at the front

Your pump & possibly outlet hose are blocked & need cleaning out, this is well within the scope of a competent DIY’er.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE ATTEMPTING REPAIR. 8)

If you don’t feel confident in your ability to do the repair, please see the repairs@ link for an Engineer local to you. I would try cleaning the pump filter first though.

All i would say is before calling an engineer out is as its an indesit that has made it past 5 years, the machine really needs checking for play between the inner and outer drums before committing to any callout or repair. You may end up spending £70 on a call out and a £20 pump to find the bearings then give up 3 months down the road in which case you would be gutted.

thanks to you all for replying. i got the filter out and there was a strip of plastic in there blocking it. now it is washing again and i didn’t have to pay a call out fee!
