ParticipantIndesit w103 . Starts to fill then empties and timer round and round with 8 flashes. Replaced heater first then changed the board but problem still occurs. It is intermittant though not on every wash. Any ideas where to look next?

There’s a couple of clues in “error codes” thread.
One says relays may stick on new boards- try tapping them.(lotusray?)
Other says he got 8 flashes on this model and it was a poor fitting thermistor plug on heater.(cornwell40?)
I would have checked pressure switch/vessel if I’d come across the symptoms you describe.September 14, 2005 at 4:55 pm #147318Sparkcymru

ok i’ll look at the thermister next and pressure switch etc. Wiring seems ok. It takes about 2-4 goes to get it to fill and run ok without it going wrong and it empties sometimes about two mins after its filled or sometimes during filling. Its a rather inconsistant fault and they are the worst to pin down!

Was the replacement board new?

Are you sure it’s not syphoning?( Check end of drain hose is above fill level.)

Awaiting temp sensor and pressure switch to arrive. Machine is filling up on own when not switched on as well now even with drain hose disconnected so I know its not syphoning. Have ordered cold fill valve as well. Parts are cheap as chips for this machine and I can see why! Will update when i’ve got the parts. At least it still washes once its decided it wants to so there is no huge laundry pile building up.

Ok it turned out to be the pressure switch. Changed that first and problem vanished. Replaced the fill valve too to stop it filling when switched off. Thanks all. What a heap of junk this machine is!
