Indesit W103 Problem (concrete block broken off)

Good evening all and hello (first post). Please forgive the explanation of the problem, I know very little about washing machines (even using them as SWMBO would point out! :D).

Machine: Indesit W103
Serial Num: 307281305

Basically my mum has one of these and the concrete block than keeps the thing stable has come away from the drum (?). Basically the point where the concrete block and nuts are connected to the plastic has sheared off.

My questions are therefore:

a) Is this an ecomonical repair for a washing-machine-repair-bloke?
b) Is this an ecomonical and practical repair for me to do (I do a bit of DIY and would fancy a crack, but I’ve not fixed washing machines before)?
c) Would it be better to just skip it and get a new (more reliable) machine?

BTW shes had it about 18 months and it’s out of warranty.

Is the full model number W103UK/A or /B or /BG, different outer drums.

If so , the outer drum is required, failry expensive and most definately not a DIY repair.
The machine is covered by manufacturers 5 years parts warranty, you will only pay the labour.

Do Indesit really offer a 5 years parts warranty? Not certain about that one.

As far as I am aware they do on the EVO machines, just depends which of the W103’s this is.

edit. All these three, W103/A B or BG have evo controls.

chitty, check the user manual for any reference to this.

Thanks for the prompt replies so far.

The only reference number I could find was on the back and reads W103(UK). I’ll pop round tomorrow and have another look.

Knowing my mother I very much doubt she’s kept the instruction manual :(.

OK, if it’s a W103UK, you need the front half of the plastic tank (P/no C00066530), about £50 from memory. I should warn you that it is a monstrous job to undertake and the two halves are often difficult to persuade together.

the evoloution range is only the ones with the electronic display, we14 and we16 etc

the w103 does not have the 5 year parts warranty!

Once more thank you for all your replies, you’ve scared me off , I’m not touching it, 🙂 got enough to do (house is being renovated). If it’s £50 for the part, it’ll be the same again for labour. I think I shall advise her to get a new washer, but something a little better this time!
