as normal during the rinse and spin part of the cycle.

Any ideas on what may be at fault would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Usually a module fault – the forward/reverse relay or it’s circuits have failed. Occasionally, you get an “onggggg” noise, in which case the motor itself is failing. If you are lucky, it may just be the carbon brushes in the motor wearing out – the increased voltage and current required for spin can be enough to complete the motor circuit and allow the motor to run.

Few things to check – stay safe as you do so – power off, please.

    Thank you Penguin45,

Carbon brushes are ok, the machine is 5 years old (which by this forum seems to have lasted quite long), would I be better off just buying a new machine?

At the risk of upsetting the Indesit lads who post on the site; 5 years isn’t a bad run for one of these….. *ducks…..*

Module or motor is likely to run out at around £80 plus the VAT, and you need to be sure you get the diagnosis right as they will not be returnable…….

There is better product available for not a lot more than you paid for this one.

    Thanks Penguin45,

Me thinks I’ll be investing in a bosch, my mum has one that’s nearly 20 years old and still running with never anything more wrong with it than a blocked filter!
