Indesit W123 programmer knob going round

Got a call to this Indesit W123- customer says machine was in wash programme 3 for ages and tried to stop it however machine has not drained out and now programme timer knob is going round continuosly,

we drain out machine and re-connect and try it on quick wash programme 8 – machine starts to fill and then goes into drain action the led flashes 6 times and then programme knob goes round continuous

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a faulty drain pump
