indesit w133s won’t start program

hi folks,

i have a problem with my washing m/c. when starting a program i always turn the machine on at the on/off button, then turn the program wheel to a black dot and wait for the 3 rapid rad LED flashes, then i turn the program knob to the desired program and it used to do the trick. now it simply gives 3 repid flashes when i try to start a program and then the light comes on and stays on but the program does not start and nothing happens whatsoever.
does any body have any ideas, or does the machine require binning? after all, it is a few years old now and had 2 new seals and a new drum in that time so it’s almost like triggers brush 🙂 but is it time to cut my losses.

Maybe not trigger’s but checking the motor brushes would be a good place to start.

Be sure to remove the mains plug before you go inside. 😉

thanks for the fast reply iadom, i have just been to check the brushes and they do seem to be quite worn but are still making contact witht the motor commutator. what does this sound like to you?

Brushes are cheap enough to try before you decide to bin it. 😉

The ends of the brushes should be very shiny, if they look rough and pitted they are shot.
