I’ve got a W143S needing a door seal fitting which has the wire and hook type clamp band on to the tub. What sort of a job is this to do? Can the band be changed for a sprung type?

    Cheers,
    Phil

A real PITA to fit, very long nosed, bent pliers are helpful.

Some of the Merloni guys use a spring but this seal just lips on, it could come off again.
I use washing-up liquid on the outside of the seal only where the band fits. Then tie the band with a small cable tie to hold, then use a bent set of pliers. Was swearing on the first one though.

Had a Servis seal i could not fit at all a few weeks ago, it was the correct part number but had to be stretched overnight to fit.

I use a pair of 11in long nosed pliers with the tips ground down a tad, A liberal coating of WD40 around the grove and position the joint at about the 2 30 position. Works well with the zipper and the hook and eye type.

there is a tool to fit these,I worked for Hotpoint and have one. They are a modified pair of electricians pliers with 2 pillers welded@ 90deg at ends which hook in to holes in band. They always worked well for me.

Any idea what the part number is for a pair?

B&Q do a 90 degree pair of pliers. Bought them did the trick on a integrated indesit washer dryer.

I did one this afternoon on a WE12.

I unhooked the top right tub spring, so that the tub dropped a bit for me – I was then able to use a normal pair of long-nosed pliers to undo and redo the spring clip without too much trouble.

Don’t forget to re-attach the pressure switch to its hose, though, which comes adrift as the tub drops if you don’t disconnect it first!

changed loads of these seals on various indesit machines, just use a 3.5mm cable tie in the two rings of the clamp and pull tight-never leak, never had a problem 😆
