Tbh I have seen this a few times its quite common. The door seal and tank absolutely stinks when its on a dry sometimes on a new machine. One woman said it made her physically sick and made here eyes sting.
If you feel its not safe I would get an engineer to check it but id bet they won’t find a problem, It normally goes after a few uses.
1st thing is YES do the 90 wash. This there for a reason to relax the seal and help to settle everything in. In fact do a couple as it help absorb the smell as well.
Then I’d stick it on a long dry program with the windows open and let it burn off all the chemicals from the plastic tank and seal.
It should fade away after a few uses, It’s just the chemicals from the manufacturing process and when the tank and seal heat up its released into the air.
It’s seems to be getting more common tbh. Not sure if its the type of rubber now used in the seals or the plastic in the tank.
Worst case if you do call them get them to swap the seal it can help.

And if its not this? Will you be putting yourself up for sorting any damage caused.
Play it safe and get the machine checked

I did not say don’t have it checked, what I said was Iv seen it a few times before.
Get an engineer out and have it checked but id expect they won’t find anything.
They have also recently added a high temp silicone to the drier box around NTC to stop hot air getting passed it help prevent the F13 so this may also be smelling.
Id also add that I have found some people seem to be more sensitive to it than other as on the ones I went to for it although I could smell it i was not affected by it or found it anywhere near as bad as the customer did.
One one the lady could not even enter the kitchen where as I could notice it but its did not bother me.
As I said your concerned get them out,, ask them to change the seal if they can’t find anything as Iv always believed this was the main source of it.February 10, 2013 at 11:04 am #389805Martin

This is indeed a fascinating insight into the wonders of the Indesit washer-dryer. It just falls short of a true indictment without further eye witness accounting by the unfortunate owner. I do hope D1xxx will return and tell us the detailed outcome of the engineers visit in due course? 😀
