Indesit Washer / dryer fault – maybe logic?

Model: WDE12 UK (Evolution 1200 4kg load)
Washer Dryer

Fault:
Close door, set program to how you want it. Hit Start.
Door clicks – lock has engaged.
The LCD display just sits there. No key symbol, so it doesn’t think the door lock has engaged (I’m thinking logic board??) therefore, it doesn’t fill. The time will happily sit there counting down through the minutes of the wash cycle. But it doesn’t do anything. Press Reset (hold start button down till all symbols get lit) then wait about 2 minutes and door lock disengages and clothes can be removed.

Anyone have any ideas as to what this mat be. I just worry what would happen to my small amount of savings if niaive divorcee mum of 2 has a washing machine chap out to this. Is this going to expensive do you think (Logic boards I’m guessing are about £100, and that will wipe my savings out)

I’m now thinking maybe pump gone, as it makes a little thump when door lock engages which is normal, but then it should making the whoosh noises as it draws water in. If its not drawing water in, maybe its the pump at fault?

It’s a valve that opens to let the water in sezicoolcat rather than a pump in the traditional sense, it would also throw up an error code (normally) should that prove to be the case.

These Indesit’s I’m afraid to say can be nightmarish to diagnose as many other components and poor connections can do all sorts with the PCB control unit.

It really is engineer time to be honest and fingers crossed it’s nothing too serious, but you’re right about the PCB should that be the failure, one is just under £70 ex VAT and the other just under £80 ex VAT depending on the serial number.

Check Repairs@ for an Independent engineer who should be able to offer further advice upon inspection. 🙂

Sounds like classic symptoms for worn carbon brushes on these machines (or other open circuit motor / wiring fault) – as this gives no error code on the display.

Found out the machine was under warranty (phew)
Fault turned out to be the motor had gone.
I think the engineer had to also replace a PCB as one of those was left behind after the repair too.

Only problem I have now is that now I have working machine, can’t lumber washing on the boyfriend anymore lol
