washerdryer
ParticipantHi
I have an indesit washer dryer wd12x, and now we have a small addition to our family and need it tyne most it has decided to malfunction. If I put a wash on either it gets stuck doing the same thing and the dial doesn’t click on to the next part of the cycle, or alternatively the knob just clicks all around.
The flashing LED flashes too quickly to count the number of flashes, but at a guess there are 10 at least. Ive checked the drain filter and that was fine, and removed some debris from the sink U bend that the washer discharges to.
I have tried to re set it by turning the knob to a dot, and then turning the machine on, but doesn’t seem to make any difference.
Indesit won’t offer any advice, other than to send an engineer at £120+parts, or their service plan scheme of £17 month for 12 months.
Any ideas? It is quite old, maybe 7 years, but Im reluctant to just buy another, and often there is a simple problem that can be sorted out oneself- when my dishwasher packed up after looking online I fixed it in 5 minutes- just pulled the machine out and tilted it to get some water out- hoping for another quick fix!
Thanks for any advice

When the dial starts to click round the flashes are usually very easy to count, it will also repeat a few times which would confirm ten flashes.
To be brutally honest these machines are not the best and to get seven years out of it is better than most people manage. If your machine is going to get a lot more use then it may be time to invest in a new machine. 😉
If it does do ten flashes that is supposed to signify a pressure switch fault, could be pressure switch, blocked pump or outlet pipe etc.

Thanks iadom
Will try to count flashes again.
Still spins and drys- hate throwing things out that still work even partially. Read there were 40m landfill tonnes now…April 25, 2015 at 11:56 am #426743washerdryer

I think I was counting the flashes when the machine was not operating- tried another short programme, 8 quick wash, and it flashes once, then the knob clicks around.

The control knob will click round one full revolution back to its original setting unless you reset it on one of the dots. If it is in error mode it will keep rotating round and round whilst steadily flashing the mains light, this is when you should count the flashes. It will repeat the flashing sequence several times with an obvious pause in between.
PS. A huge amount of the landfill total is made up of Indest based products. :rolls:

it does one flash when control knob clicking around, and it goes around until you stop it, i.e. more than once.
thinking of scrapping it, its so old..April 25, 2015 at 4:38 pm #426746iadom

One flash is a motor/circuit board fault so strong chance it needs an expensive repair anyway.
