ParticipantCan anyone tell me what the problem is with my washing machine? When I turn it on it starts to fill then it stops after a few seconds and from then on the programme dial starts clicking round constantly….and the power light goes on and off at the same time!
Thanks

The power light should flash in a sequence then pause.
i.e. 3 flashes – pause – 3 flashes.
If you can count the number of flashes it may give us a clue, although sometimes this is not conclusive, normally you will need an engineer to check it out for. What you are desribing is the machine’s control unit detecting an error, it then aborts the programme.

It seems to do 8 single flashes although when I first turned it on it did a few single flashes then 3 in quick succession.

If it’s either 8 or 3 it is related to water heating and/or water heat control.
Best bet is ask an engineer to have a look at it for you, if the main control unit has failed, these can now be repaired saving some of the cost of the £60-£80 for a replacement.
Let us know your postcode, someone should be able to assist with this.
Dave.
PS. Your other post deleted as it relates to the same machine i assume.

Thanks. Postcode is AL4. I only paid £60 for it second hand (obviously now know I was conned as they told me it was working!)

To be honest unless you can get a refund from whoever sold it you, at this stage it’s best not to get too involved. It will be expensive to fix without doubt 🙁

Will it cost more than the £60 we paid for it, do you think?
