Although the machine is working fine, when the macine is turned off on the dial the on off light flashes continually

This is normal it is telling you that it has finished the prog and is ready to start a new one.

If light stays on when you turn the dial to off then it is a module fault.
Quite a common fault on this model.If it’s insured or under guarantee then get it seen to if not and you can live with a flashing light then leave it.
As you say the appliance will still operate normally.lol stripey.. and you work for hotpoint
yep, needs a pcb and eprom… it is common, as cessna says, it simply isnt resetting

no, the light should go off,
as helo says it does need a new module, also beware if continuing to use it as it is a sign that the dial is no longer corresponding to the programme you have chosen, so you may well be selecting a cool wash but the board will run a hot wash, needs fixing really

Many thanks to all i will switch it off at wall and hope for best as new module approx £100

Taken from the user manual.
“When the programe is finished the DOOR LOCK Led will flash to indicate that the appliance door can be opened”

Please READ my comments and the other peoples comments the lights continue flashing even when the dial is turned to the off position which they should NOTomg stripey, u really are a goon

do you think the poster would have asked the question, after possibly 2 years if he didnt think there was a problem?
the light WILL NOT flash in the off position, which, funnily enough, is when the machine should be off
