ParticipantHi,
I am having some problems with a 5 month old Indesit WD10 washer dryer. The error codes posted in the pinned thread identify the fault as pressure switch not sensing properly (10 flashes). I did clear a blockage in the pump and try the machine again but the machine is doing strange things. When I switch it on (any program) the pump starts working and the dryer motor is working. I reset the program and try again and I get the same problem. Also the knob keeps turning. Any idea what this may be or should I just call Indesit to repair it?
I had a problem with a brand new machine we delivered a few weeks ago before I got the error codes. The machine did not do anything to start with so my engineer recalled a similar fault a few months ago, removed and refitted the pump and it was fine.

Furhan,
I think it is almost certainly a connection problem to the main Module ❓
Resetting will usually cure minor hiccups in the programme eprom but unless the connections are good to it, it cannot respond 😉 Take off all the module plugs and refit them and try again. Beyond that Merlonielectrowhatshisname will have to step in and get it sorted under guarantee 😉

The pressure switches have been known as a common failure across the whole range of Evolutions as far as I’m aware. I would be worth replacing it to check.
I had a look at the info and thee appears to be three different pressure switches listed for this model, whether they are interchangeable it doesn’t say. It looks like the make of pressure switch is required to identify.
May I also ask, if it’s only a few months old surely it’s i/g and should be repaired free of charge by Merloni ?

Yeah it is covered by Merloni warranty but we regulary repair minor faults and deliver the machine back to the customer as soon as possible. This particular machine is for one of our contract clients who prefer us to supply/fit and repair machines. If it is something major we book a visit with Merloni for the customer or collect the machine and ask them to repair it in our workshop.

Aha, if it’s part of a bigger contract I understand the involvement.
Let us now how you get on either way if you could.

Send it to us at EMW, Unit 11 Oaktree Business Park, Mansfield, NG18 3HQ and we will test it same-day – cost is £4+vat (and that includes return first class post !). It it is faulty we can repair/reprogram at £34.90+vat. DON’T FORGET on these machines the carbon brushes are critical – if they wear unevenly then the timer will abort and go around & around ! Call me on 01623 647537 office hours for further help. Tony (EMW Electronics)

ParticipantWhen the door is closed and the program has been reset before hand, the door locks and the light flashes. The timer knob keeps going round and round. I am trying to see if we can fix it. If we can’t fix it by early next week I will just call Indesit.

I doubt it will be something you could fix easily, its sure to be a duff Module. Let it be Indemerloni’s problem, but keep an eye on the engineer to see what he does. Let us know too OK 😉

ParticipantJust to update the thread, the engineer replaced the EEPROM and Module and has ordered a pressure switch. The pressure switch he tried gave the same problem, not sure if it was new though.

Thanks for the info Furhan.
Apparently the pressure switches can give a number of probs (even new ones 😥 )
Keep us posted thanks 😉

P.S. Don’t you just love the way Manufacturers own engineers have little idea what is wrong with these things. BUT they have the advantage of chucking loads of new parts in ’em till they work. No expense spare and no friggin’ clue what they’re at 😆 😆 😆

as a manufacture a engineer i can tell u we dont get enough info enough time and very little support its unfortunate but in this day and age u have little choice or time but to throw a load of parts at the machine and hope
i dont agree with this practise but what do u do when over loaded with work and little support?????????/

KeymasterWhat lotusray says is correct Martin, even for someof us doing contract work the pressure is on to produce so many completed calls per day just to pay the bills and wages. Time is a luxury that we cannot afford in some cases. 🙁

thanks for support kwatt
i cant see people getting a proper service till appliances are retailed at a realistic price hence service can then be charged realistacly there fore less jobs required to earn a living
i cant believe the cr@p that is been churned out at the momment especillay with all the concerns about resources ect fundamental things like bearings we gone back to the dark ages i see so many machine under 12 mths with catastrophic bearing falure how on earth are manufacturers aloud to get away with it????
its not as if spares are priced in lkine with retail price of machinesAugust 4, 2004 at 7:54 am #113369Dave_Conway

It’s called consumerism, I wouldn’t necessarily lay all of the blame with the manufacturers. The public have, over the years pressurised the large retailers into demanding cheaper everything, so in turn, to keep the sheds happy the manufacturers have had to cut corners on quality to meet demand for lower priced appliances.
There does seem to be a slight upturn in this trend of late though, mainly in consumer attitude, and we should (and probably are) helping that 😀

I have always maintained that the retailers ‘call the tune’ and that the manufacturers are therefore forced to comply. The major retailers are then at liberty to sell the general public any old cr@p on their terms. Quality does not enter the frame, purely quantity the dictate.
What is needed to sort out the situation is for the government to step in and legislate over the serious issue of goods being sold “not of merchantable quality”. Furthermore to reinforce the retailers “6 year rule” ❗
IMHO
