I got the dreaded 8 flashes but with a difference. its intermittent, I have removed the board, cleaned all the contacts etc ( whist unplugged ) board looks ok no burnt tracks components, checked heater and thermostat with continuity tester & ok. tried reset etc and prog spin only etc all many times eventually the machine ran again. so did a full wash all ok, went to do a second ( backlog dirty socks!) and back to 8 flashes. it goes to this after the prog has started doing the fills done a few turns and perhaps is about to start heating I guesss.
can anyone advise what to check for or tell me definitely what the prob is
    thanks

You’re on the right lines with the heater circuit. Check the heater connectors – so and soes for breaking internally, ditto thermistor connectors. Failing that it’s likely to be the main circuit board itself that’s at fault.

    Power off, of course.

The appliance also hates being in a damp locations. The circuit board tends to have problems and under severe circumstances may flash over 😥

thanks to penquin45 and gegsy for suggestions,
sunday there was some damp under machine from tiny leak on cold fill, replace hose & removed carpet.then (whist unplugged) unplugged and reseated connectors for i guess heater element and thermostat on drum, no apparent breaks. hey presto ran a wash all thru no prob, tried another today( monday) and immediately the same problem,so reseated all connectors again did a reset and it worked. I think I will replace these four cables as I guess there is a break/fracture inside one of them, hope that is the case if not it might be a dry joint on the board.
will let you know, again thanks for info, really usefull site
    cheers

My WD12 does exactly the same, also intermittantly. I find if I turn it off, weight 5 to 10 mins, start the programme again – same fault recurs – repear tne whole process usually 4! times, then the machine starts working. It’s a pretty time consuming process, but easier than all that electronic fiddling and cheaper than calling someone out. Sounds like it’s a design fault.

    Nice one Steevo!

Can we ‘sticky’ this post guys? Or copy it to the trade technical enquires section?

Ps. Every Indesit is a purpose-built design fault! 👿

8 flashes means heater relay is faulty- this is located on power module – means replacing module I’m afraid

    Sometimes, maybe…..

Indesit fault codes are notoriously unreliable – whilst it does technically mean that the relay is faulty, any component related to the heater circuit could be at fault.

To be sure of avoiding unneccessary expense (the computer board is expensive) I would seek professional help. Click the link below.
