Indesit WD12 – drying not working (no heat?)

For a while now, my washer-dryer has not been drying. I set about trying to find out why last night beginning with clearing the filter trap. An unfamiliar bit of broken plastic, blue in colour, was found in there as well as a couple of more familiar objects.

The machine runs the drying cycle without giving an error code and I can hear the drying fan running, but there is no noticeable warmth in the door when running, so it would seem that there is no heat.

What can give no drying heat but no error on this machine? I am quite happy to open it up and test components with a multimeter, though knowing approximate locations of them would be helpful. The blue plastic object is presumably not part of the machine but if it is, I would guess that would need to be replaced.

usual suspects are heater and therman fuse

heaters obvious.. thermal fuse is link wire with yellow sheath in line with the heater.. its usually that

if it is, then its worth checking the condesner (white plastic housing on the back of the drum ) isnt blocked

Is there a good easy way to check the condenser? The thermal fuse has indeed gone.

only to take it of and clean it!!

take off clip at back of drum, remove fan motor, and it will come out.. but be warned… theres a lot of sharp adges so be very carful!!!

Hi, hoping that “helo_75” spots this.

Had the same problem with Ariston AWD12UK except that heating element was in two bits. Have now received spare parts. Clever old me took digital photo of wiring, not so clever old me forgot that number one son was about to go on a trip and has gone off with the camera!

Parts took some while to arrive so I now cannot remember the exactly which coloured wires go where. Can you help please?

Have replaced temp controller & heating coil. Wires left dangling are:
– twin BLUE from fan motor, spade socket.
– single BLUE from wiring loom, spade socket.
– single RED from wiring loom, spade socket.
– single RED from wiring loom, spade socket.
– one end of therm fuse, spade socket.
– other end of thermo fuse, spade.

Thanks Martin,

Nothing in life is as simple as it should be…number one son has now arrived in China and has shown deep regret in his action of deleting everything from the camera in preparation for his trip of a liftime! Whilst I am grateful for his regret, Mum and me have actually had our first visit to a laundrette for many a year. He on the otherhand responded with “What’s a laundrette?”

Granddma is shortly to be brought into this panto (she used to take in washing in the thirties so nothing new there then) because I’m apparently being a stubborn old s*d.
