KeymasterHi Guys! I think washing machine problems follow me! Last time I was in touch was regarding the drum bearings on my Zanussi FJ1296, which a year on is repaired and working perfectly.
However I now am lodging in Kent, and my LandLord’s machine is on the blink:
It is an Indesit WD 12 S UK. Serial: 209118849 *8025530100.
It is a washer dryer. It is a great big silver thing (controls are more like silver coated plastic tha proper stainless!). The problem is that if you select a wash cycle, the door locked light flashes slowly, then stays on. The machine fills for about 30 secs, the drains itself. When the draining starts, the program selector clicks round and round continuously. The the pump turns off, bt teh dial keeps turning, and the door light indicator flashes.
I have a feeling it is something relatively simple. Teh machine doesn’t appear to leak!
Any ideas??!

Light on constantly when filling, flashes slow, then very fast, then slowly as dial goes round

Do you have any ideas for what the problem may be. My landlord told me it has happened before, and was something very simple, but she cant remember what! Doh!!

Phew! Just popped home and checked it out!!
right, turn to a fill program (in this case, number 4 (a 40 degree wash)
Push on button, and light above it acts like teh following:2 slow flash, followed by 2 or 3 very fast flashes. hen stays on constantly, and fills. The light goes off and machine drains. The dial then starts rotating and the light flashes constantly; the pump stays on. It all ends when teh pump switches itself off (afetr a while), teh light continues to flash slowly, and the programme dial continues to click round and round.
Hope that’s OK lads!! Cheers!

It’s likely the fault is associated with a ‘water level control’ failure in some way. So the water level system will need some attention. 😉
I would advise consulting a local engineer to sort it for you though, as it’s not a DIY type job I’m afraid. We may have one in your area if you check here:Repairs@ 😀

is that most liekly to be a sudded up pressure bottle? the thing is, you can hear the pressure switch “click” when teh water level has been reached, and then the pump comes on

My indiset wd12 will not stop fillinf with water thru the powder drawer. I have changed the solenoid on the water inlet to no avail. Any ideas??? 😳

Changing just the solenoid won’t make any difference, it’s the mechanical part of the valve that fails, you need to change the whole valve 😉

KeymasterHi,
I seem to have the same problem as Rob Marshall. My problem is that I have moved to Belgium(!) and I took my WD12 with me.
Anyway, so I have pretty much got the same problem as Rob, and I called Indesit here. Who said that they would be able to send an engineer out to have a look and determine what is wrong with it, but would not be able to get parts as it is a UK model. I would then have to get the parts from Indesit in the UK, get the shipped here, and then get an Engineer out to fit the new part (assuming that it needed a part replacing.
My question to you guys, is, “Do you think that is should be something that can be fixed by a competent repair man without the requirement of a new part, or is it going to be a very large (heavy) and expensive replacement part, that I might be better off scrapping it and buying a new one locally.
Thanks
Dave

It’s hard to say Dave really, it may be a simple blockage (hopefully). If not, the parts aren’t too expensive as long as the motor and main control PCB are OK.
Let the engineer call would be my advise then come back and let me (us) know what you need (if at all), I can supply to Belgium with no problems.
Dave.
