Indesit WDE12 – door and F02

According to my wife, she was half way through a cycle and our Indesit WDE12 stopped doing anything. After discovering that it would not reset, she turned it off and unplugged it for an hour or so. She says that she saw an F02 error code at some point. When we put it back on everything seemed to work fine. I started by getting it to fill (using the start of the rinse cycle). Then I used the drain cycle and emptied it. Then I went to the 30 min wash cycle and set it off. It filled, did some spinning, and then it pumped out the water. Then the machine started to fill again. It made a filling sound for only a couple of seconds or so and stopped. Nothing else happened. It was about 15 minutes through the cycle at this point. We let it run to the end of the 30 minute cycle but nothing happened. It sat with 0:00 on the clock for 5 minutes or so but did not progress to saying END, so I reset it. I tried to start other cycles but none of them worked. The key symbol never appeared in order to show that it had locked the door. Eventually the word door appeared.

If F02 is indicating a problem with the motor then why was it capable of spinning the drum? If there is a problem with the door, why was it working and then it wasn’t and then it was? Is this just a malfunctioning mainboard?
