Indesit WE 16 UK Door Seal replacement

Hi Guys,
Is it possible for a non-expert to replace the door seal of an Indesit WE 16 washer??

The seal is starting to split across a crease which has formed towards the top of the seal. This crease seems to have been caused by the factory fitting the seal with a slight twist between the door rim and the drum bead. As usual the machine is just out of warranty!!!!

The seal is spring and wire retained to the lip on the case on the door side, but I don’t want to investigate further on the drum side if I’m on a hiding to nothing.

Any comments will be most gratefully received….

It’s not too difficult a job really and can be accessed from the top. (Pull the plug first though) There are a couple of different seals that fit that model so the serial number can decide which 😉

Thanks for the instantaneous reply 😀 …

The serial number is :- 211288234 * 80251620100

The seal is retained to the drum bead by what seems to be an oversized wire circlip. This looks to be “interesting” to replace after refitting the seal. Do I need special tools to pull the ends of the wire together before the hooks engage??

I think it may be tricky for you but anyway, the part number you need for the new seal is : C00064545. It may well be available via out “shop@” site in the navigation bar?

Any problems I suggest getting a local independant engineer to do it for you 🙂

Many thanks to you both for your help.

I’ve ordered the seal from Shop@ and if I hit problems fitting it I’ll repost to try and get a recommendation for an independant engineer local to me….
