Indesit WG1130T question

I’m trying to work out if i just need a new heating element r if i have a bigger problem.
The machine is connected to h & c supplies, but stops if the t/stat is set at 40 degrees – it will continue to work if the t/stat is turned down below the ‘click’ leading me to suspect the element – but why won’t it fill from the hot supply?? I know the hot supply works, because as an experiemt i swapped the h & c around – got a cold wash and a hot rinse..!! Surely the element should not be needed if there is a hot supply – this makes me wonder if the problem lies elsewhere.
If it is the element, is this a job for a competent DIYer..?

That sounds like a faulty heater to me!

The machine will only fill with hot water, if you set a very hot water program. Even then, it still uses the heater to boost the water temperture up to whatever is required 😕
