Are there any washing machine experts who could suggest why the drum on my Indesit WG1185 washing machine is not running concentric?

I’ve just replaced the door seal after the last one got shredded but have now noticed that the drum is not running true, and is abrading the new door seal during the spin cycle, accompanied by a loud rumbling noise.

I turned the drum while fitting the new door seal and couldn’t find any play in the bearings or loose counterweights, etc, and the machine runs fine throughout the rest of the programme).

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

    Thanks all

    Thanks Electrofix.

However, I checked the spider, which seems fine; it’s firmly secured to the drum and there’s no play in the bearings.

Where and how might rust be an issue?

you cannot check the drum spider without taking the inner drum out

you machine has 2 spiders. one holing the bearings the other bolted to the back of the revolving drum

Ah, I see – thanks Dave.

Sounds like a difficult repair so I’m guessing it would be better to buy a new one. Could you recommend an affordable make/model that is reliable – and cheap to fix?

look at the Bosch WAN series

cant promise its cheap to fix but you do get 2 years warranty and we can get all the spares

if you want Quality you want Miele but
Ebac have started making machines and they claim its repairable and seems to have good feedback so far
