The old wm crap but a good earner! simple and the wma will end up the same its just a matter of getting use to it and waiting for the price of parts to come down lets face it hotpoint havent done anything any good for a long time. i know that when they built the new wma1600 that some clever person who designed the pcb (the 3 phase inverter one) done a grand job then they tried fitting it in the machine it didnt fit so someone else not so clever took a file to the heat sink till it did fit!! asking for trouble!

I do not at the moment repair Bosch appliances but at the same time as the Hotpoint WMA bearing problem , I received countless calls from Bosch owners complaining of bearing failure. I accept that these may well have been the non german produced machines.
IMHO Bosch washing machines are only slightly better quality than Hotpoint these days with most parts looking surprisingly similar. The Bosch drum bearing and seal is extremely similar to the Hotpoint WMA

I love clicking Idesits. 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of then are caused by stuff stuck in the pump. Even though the pump may still work, if the water took too long to pump out, the board will go into error mode and ………………. clicking selector. The rest, well heaters open circuit, that’ll get em clicking. NTC’s out of range …………. clicking. But my one big tip …………. go for the simple stuff first, and don’t forget the outlet hose and the sink connection, a partial blockage there will get the selector spinning too. Keep your dongle in the toolbox, check the pump, hose and the heater, that’ll get rid of most of the problems. Forget the eeprom, they rarely become faulty. Sometimes the boards mess up, but more often than not, it’s something simple. I fix 20 to 30 per week, and when I first started doing them, I tied myself in knots, but now I’ve reverted to first principles, and life is much easier. Forget that they are computer controlled, and remember how a washing machine really works.

My mate at comet tells me that hotperloni machines selling in store for £200 to £250 are bought for £90 to £100. So Hotperloni make em and ship em for, let’s say £100 and they still have to make a profit. I’m not here to defend manufacturers, but the reason they make such unrealiable machines, I think, has more to do with the selling strategies of the sheds and the buying strategies of the customers. They force the manufacturers down to a price, they (the sheds) make huge profits while the manufacturers are forced to sell more and more to make substantial profits.
When customers winge at me about their Motperloni gizmo that’s gone tits up in the first 3 months, I ask them how much they paid for it. I then point out how much it was made for , and the reason Hotperloni had to do that was because customers and retailers demand cheaper and cheaper kit.
The German manufacturers are bringing their prices down too, and likewise their quality will suffer. There will always be niche manufacturers who can maintain high prices, but for the rest …………………….May 2, 2005 at 5:23 pm #130379Bryan

Very interesting reading because I hate when customers phone with this fault unless obviously a drainage problem.
Out of 20-30 of these repairs a week how many are module faults ❓
After checking drainage, heater, ntc and motor is next consideration module ❓ and then writing them off as 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of customers won`t accept price. If you can verify quote then I for one may need to pay more attention to drainage problem.

I find it’s pump blockages much of the time, or siphoning sometimes. Occasionally the thermistor.
