A few of us have had a these “2 rotary knob” (indesit laughably describe these as ” EVO2 CONTROLS LOW-END 1000RPM ” meaning they think there is a high end machine out there somewhere!) type boards go lately. Rumour has it that its the tiny potentiometers that fail. Possible that EMW are repairing them so give them a ring otherwise its a new board and eeprom.

Its a smaller than usual one, it’s on the larger of the two right angled PCB’s fixed to the main PCB.
Apparently the new board has a slot to fit a eeprom of the usual size which you have to buy separately. 😥
Acting upon advice from Baron, I successfully swapped the two potentiometers, now I need to see if that will cure the failure to switch off fault.
Before I swapped them I did try to turn the pots whilst holding the probes of my meter on the centre & right contacts checking the resistance. This was done on the table at home with screwdriver in the centre hole of the pots, the left hand pot looking from the back of the board which is behind the control knob was all over the place, the right hand one that is behind the variable temp knob seemed to rise and fall at the exact same place on the dial and the resistance was steady at each setting.

Jim,
Potentiometer (variable resistor) has fixed value between lowers polls (if I remember correctly 20KOhms) but between anyone of them with middle (alone) one should arise or fall by rotation. At one point the middle poll should measure “0” (null; isolated; infinity MOhms) value at “reset” position.
When I have said to switch potentiometers is the case in which “programming” potent. it measures goods but falls on working state (under voltage zero points turn to not have infinit resistance).
In case of damaged potent. (in any position middle poll do not have any resistance or interrupted or non-linear variation) should be changed.

A couple of new potentiometers are a lot cheaper.

Guys, this is not the fault of the potentiometer, I have tried this, the pot is ok, its the processor.
New board mate 😳September 18, 2007 at 7:06 am #227652admin

New board mate 😳Mate,
do you believe that I’m writing here just for fun in order to put others to works on vain?
I do not want to be…: When somebody makes a farth, can other say is just new smelly deodorant?
Like I said before I’ve few already repaired… and they works for long times… I have met just few cases of processor faults:
– after over voltage on main power supply when become totally dead or overheats himself (in that cases also power supply on PCB is blown);
– after any short circuits in any output channels (triac blown) (sometime he survive after this);
– when 220V comes in contacts (even from induction) into temperature sensor channel
– and finally just two cases where something inside processor program (ROM memory) is missing or broken.September 18, 2007 at 9:09 am #227653cornwell40

Could this be the same on the WIDL102 machine, crease guard light is flashine / pressure switch stuck on empty. This p/switch was replaced 11 months ago 😥 so I was hoping something else would cause this fault :wink:. What’s the part code for these I can’t finda potentiometer or control anywhere?

Unlikely, different board altogether. The pots are not available from Indesit, CPC or similar outlets will sell them.
WIDL has a separate timer, the WIA models have a potentiometer behind the control knob, mounted on the PCB.
