ParticipantHi there,
Hopefully someone can explain why my washing machine is doing this before I have to call an engineer in…
I have an Indesit WIA 121 – cheapo model with a dial to select preset programmes (as opposed to a dial that sort of ‘clicks’ through them as it goes). Normally it finishes its programme and the door lock LED flashes to let you know you can remove the load and switch it back into standby.
Last night, after it had been on standby for a few days, I found it flashing continuously as if a programme had finished. I’ve had a search through the forum and can’t find any sign of this happening to others, as it seems Indesit’s error messages are displayed by a flashing door LED plus one or more of the other LEDs on the unit. Incidentally, the flashing seems to be at a ‘normal’ speed.
Any ideas, anyone?
If not, no worries.
Cheers!
Jon

A few days??? Probably the programme module stuffed (excuse the technical term) It will need expert inspection unfortunately 🙁
Does it not work at all? (If yes – a costly repair likely)IMHO

Sorry, should have been clearer on that point 😳 . In my head, it’s only a standby function just because there’s no push switch – it’s just a setting at the top of the machine’s only dial.
The dial has about 14 points on it (I forget the exact number), which run around from off/standby, through the program cycle numbers, then spin, drain etc.
Trust me – I’m not in the habit of abusing appliances if I can avoid it!
Anyhow, it seems to be working as far as I can tell, just won’t stop blinking… If the power socket it runs from was accessible, I’d just switch it off there. Sadly, it’s hidden behind the machine itself. Does it sound like it could indicate something on its way out, or am I worrying too soon?
