Indesit WIA101 W/Mach – Top Wieght

Hi Folks

Went to above m/c today and found top and bottom weights loose – when I inspected fixing for top weight it looked like there was nothing to hold the weight in place only the fixing screws and washer.. as the hole in the weight was a lot larger than the screw shaft I could see there was nothing only the clamping pressure of the screw from stopping the weight coming loose again..

My first thought was that the loose weight had worn off the plastic fins that normally fit inside the weight hole to stop it moving about and the screw clamps it but all three holes and fixings looked the same and there was no sign of any plastic left..

Question.. has Indesit changed the design of the weight fixings on these tubs (welded – all one unit type) or was I right in my first assumption and the customer has left it so long that the loose weight has worn off all the insert..

This m/c was obtained for her via the landlord and although there was no fixings on the lid (prob knocked out by the loose weight hitting the top) there was nothing to indicate this was a recon m/c as she was indicating so doubt if anything missing from the weight fixing..

When asked how long the m/c been making a noise she said she didn’t know as she nearly always went out and left the m/c running :rolls:

its usually where the block was loose & the bolts have ‘shaved’ off some of the concrete, tighten & should be fine

Hmmm.. Thanks for the reply Hpoint but the holes in the concreete look the standard 1-1.5″ dia and the bolts look like the now standard 1/4″ without to much damage to the shaft.. would have expected to see a lot more damage to the bolt if it had worn this much from the weight hole..

The more I think about this the more I am convinced that all the tub potrusion that normally fits into the weight hole has worn off but it’s just that it all looked so neat and there is no fluted metal washer that normaly the weight sits on fitted.. I just wondered if the design had changed..

Not seen many of these welded tubs yet and this is the first weight prob I have come across so far…

It deffinatly needs something other than just the clamp pressure of the bolt to stop the weight from moving again, even some sort of dished washer or have the designers at Indi/ hotpoint really lost their marbles altogether.. 😯

Anyone else any thoughts or comments?
