ParticipantWe would be very grateful if anybody would help us to recognise the problem that occured to our washer-dryer indesit widl 102. It started with difficulty to get rid of the water after starting a program. It would go for a while – would get water and start turning, than would stop , and after few minutes several of the leds would start flashing. The first one – red above the automatic lock sign (would flash very fast), than the first green ( which is the second led if you count the red one 😛 ) , and the fourth one (again if you go from the red) – they flash less fast than the first in the same rythm. Maybe somebody knows how to read those symptoms ?

You need to count the green lights from left to right. 😉
However, if lights 1 & 4 are flashing it suggests an eeprom setup error.
Possible fault in the very poor electronics that are in all Indesit machines.

If the machine is a few years old, my guess is – the motor has gone.
See if it’s the 7 wire motor; they fail / go short circuit after a while.July 6, 2009 at 7:35 pm #291116helo_75

like iadom says, its an eeprom setup error
after all, why would it turn if the motor was duff?

ParticipantThank you all.
The motor is fine. The machine works on spinning and rinsing programme , so the motor goes fine, but whenever it comes to pump out the water the machine stops and the leds starts flashing. So if I count them from left to right it is the 2 & 4 which are green and than the 5 red. Any more sugestions ???July 6, 2009 at 9:38 pm #291118broddersbaldrick

It says the ‘Motor Stops’!
I have had an indesits which start failing like this, then stopped altogether.
I’m just trying to give the guy some clues; motor problems do cause the machine to stop and the lights to start flashing on Indesit machines!!
Too many times i have seen circuit boards written off as faulty yet they are not always the cause; i hope you would agree? In fact the electronics are very reliable and rarely the cause of failures. As the armature current increases from the drive triac, the ‘eprom’ senses the motor turning (via speed sensor)and increases the current until the motor turns at required speed.
During the cycle, if the current does not fall into the set parameters, the machine stops and the lights begin to flash.I have had them and, the later 7 wire motors are less durable then the 5.
You may well be correct about a dodgy ‘eeprom’ but I would not put my money on it.
Is your ‘eeprom failure’ not a guess? or do you have the machine in front of you?One can test a motor with a 12 volt battery and a meter.
Thank you

You obviously have more idea than time served engineers with between 20 & 40 years in the trade. :rolls:
The PCB’s used in Indesit/Ariston/Hotpoint machines for the past 6 or 7 years are truly awful and fail at an alarming rate.
The possible diagnosis is from years of experience and also having access to the error codes, so no, it is not a guess at all. 😛
If lights 2&4 are flashing then it points to the pressure switch being stuck on full. Could be a faulty pressure switch, blocked pump or pressure hose, loose connections or once again, being an Indesit it could be the PCB at fault.
Have you chacked the pump filter ?
It most certainly is not the motor as our ‘electronics expert’ would have you believe. 😯

if you open your mouth wide enough, youll get your other foot in too
ANYONE who thinks indesit electronics are reliable are certifiable
the pumps obstructed, thats what f5 means

ParticipantThank you again
That give me more hope again. In what I dont know yet. I checked the filter – it is fine, I kind of checked the presure swith and pipe , and (if it is possible to judge) it seems fine, no blockage. Is there a way to try if the pump is foulty. If I take pump out and connect it to 220v – would I kill it – or might it give me some idea about its performance. Any hope ???July 7, 2009 at 6:20 am #291122tomaszm
Participantjust one more question : what the eeprom setup is ?

Pump runs on mains voltage. Is the machine actually draining or is it staying full of water?
Worth checking the grey plastic outlet pipe is not blocked if it is connected into your sink wastepipe.
If you drain out all of the water then remove the pump filter you can see the small, four bladed pump impellor. Switch the machine to a spin programme and shine a torch into the filter housing to see if the impellor is turning.
The eeprom is a small, programmable chip located on the main PCB. It contains the instruction software that controls the electronics, it does a lot more than ‘sense the motor turning’ 😉

ParticipantThank you – I will check that imediately.

ParticipantThe news are – the pump doesnt work while it is spinning. Does it prove that it is the pump ?

Participanttheres a good chance.. if there was no supply, ud get an f11 fault
