ParticipantINDESIT WIDL126 WASHER DRYER. SERIAL NO; 506153599.
I have just purchased an Indesit widl 126 washer dryer and when it is on the drying cycle water re-enters the machine from the fill pipe, not a lot but enough to make the clothes damp, this continues throughout the drying cycle, and happens just after it has drained. Its almost as if it begins to start a rinse cycle. I have checked the filter and inlet but nothing is blocked. This is cold water fill only. I just wondered before calling an engineer out, if the problem could be to do with the way the machine is plumbed in or if in fact the machine is faulty. There are no error codes or anything showing. Washine machine bit works fine. Thanks KarenOctober 30, 2005 at 11:32 pm #152310iadom

All condensor dryers fill with a small trickle of cold water during the drying cylce, this is used to cool the condensor allowing the warm moist air to condense and drain away. It should not be getting onto the clothes and causing them to become damp. Is your water pressure very high, are you allowing the drying cycle to go through to the end, is your outlet pipe restricted, have you cleaned the pump filter at the bottom, front right ?

Thanks for replying. Yes have let it run full drying cycle. Water is coming into drum itself, when it finishes there is still water in drum and I have to put it on a spin programme on washer. Have checked filter under kick plate, is that the one you refer to?, it was clean, as this is new machine. Drain hose is connected straight under sink and works fine when washing. Not sure about water pressure. Am in basement flat and have turned water off and then just opened valve a little but its still the same. Karen

If the washing machine drain hose is coupled directly to the sink drain. You must ensure the hose is raised as high as possible to prevent water from the sink flowing back down the hose and into the machine!

Yes, It is raised. I have tried everything suggested on the web and as I said the washing machine bit works fine. I just wanted to find out if it is the machine itself that is faulty before I contact Comet as I don’t want to be charged if its not. Thanks for your suggestions. Karen

I would now contact Comet then as you have done all that could be expected in order to try to resolve the problem. I suspect that the cold water valve inside the machine is not shutting off as it should and needs replacing!

Engineer took one look at it. Everything was wrong. The drive shaft was also broken which we didn’t realize. He said it could have happened even before delivery. We were offered a replacement or refund. We choose a different machine. Hands up to Comet. Karen

I think the ‘drive shaft was broken’ was Comet engineer bull***t. It would be impossible not to ‘realise’ a drive shaft, not that there is anything actually called a drive shaft in these machines, was broken. My guess is that if the engineer was from Comet, he hadn’t a clue or couldn’t be bothered trying to find the fault. So  to Comet. Hope you changed it for a Bosch or similar.
