I’m looking for some help with an Indesit WIDL 126 that I have been using for over two years since I began my tenancy (though I am not sure exactly how old the machine is or what its warranty status is). It had been working fine until yesterday.

When I switched the power on at the mains socket, all the lights flashed once, powered off and went dead. I unplugged it for sometime and tried again, with the same result.

I checked the sockets with other appliances: it works perfectly well. The fuse inside the plug has not blown either, it worked when placed in an already functioning appliance, and the fuse from that appliance made no difference to this machine.

Since the lights flashed once, I am assuming that power is not the issue here.

Tried looking for an answer here, a similar problem was brought up a few years ago, but I don’t think it was answered.

    Any suggestions?

    EDIT: 13 OCT 2020
My landlords have planned to redo the kitchen, where this machine was and have decided to replace it instead of getting it checked, so I’m still not sure what the issue was. Just like linked query remained unanswered, this one too is unanswered. Sorry, future inquirers, I could not provide any insight.

From the date of the post you linked to you will gather that your machine will be at least six years old but almost certainly older. It points to a failure of the main circuit board which given it’s age may render it BER, (beyond economic repair). Time to get in touch with your landlord methinks.

could be the switch that turns it on faulty
but then its not your machine so should not be your problem

as Iadom says its time to ring your landlord

Switching the mains on and off without touching the appliance on/off switch as the OP has done would suggest the on/off switch may be ok.
